PORT A CATH EPIDEMIC

We were hoping that the port a cath sx. was going to be quick and easy....Wrong.......I begged to have the CBC rechecked when she was sedated as I was not comfortable on last weeks result of 149,000....Which is darn near normal, but when 4 days prior it was at 44,000...I just wasn't buying it...  They drew it up and it clotted, which was kind of a good sign...So they proceeded with the sx....They re-tested and the results came back at a 4,000 !!!  Critically LOW!!  Needless to say we were admitted and she had a platelet transfusion.....Spending the night in the hospital brought back so many memories, my eyes were filled with tears most of the stay....I just wanted to be home with her...I know how to take care of her, I know the signs to look for and I wasn't going to be there another 50 days as before...NO WAY
